A causa autista: ativismos de pais pela internet

Abstract

A compreensão do diagnóstico, das causas, da sintomatologia e do tratamento do autismo é de extenso interesse no meio cientifico. De acordo com a história que o autismo vem construindo, em cada momento novas teorias surgem como explicação e base para possibilidades terapêuticas. A família já encontrou destaque nessa história no papel de culpada pela doença; atualmente esse destaque aos pais se faz pela participação nos tratamentos, nas possibilidades de auxílio para a autonomia do autista, e como difusores de informações a respeito dela. Contudo, encontram-se poucas produções cientificas acerca das manifestaçoes sociais dos pais com filhos com autismo e seus efeitos. Este estudo tem como objeto as manifestações de ativismo no ciberespaço dos pais com filhos autistas e seus impactos nas politicas públicas, nas formas de inclusão (escolar e social) e nas abordagens terapêuticas. As escolhas metodológicas se direcionaram para a pesquisa bibliográfica e para a pesquisa de campo realizada na internet, a partir de coletas em blogs, fanpages e sites criados por pais com filhos autistas, meios técnicos nos quais há a possibilidade de interação. Os Estudos Culturais foram a referência maior da pesquisa, que se ocupou também da repercussão das manifestações de ativismo nos aspectos legais, diagnósticos, tratamentos e na vida de pais de autistas. Os dados e as reflexões decorrentes do presente estudo tiveram como objetivo servir de motivação para lutas e participação coletiva, buscando uma melhor qualidade de vida para os filhos e, por conseguinte, para eles próprios, os pais.

Understanding the diagnosis, causes, symptomatology and treatment of autism is of great interest in the scientific world. According to the history that autism has been building, in each moment new theories appear as explanation and base of therapeutic possibilities. The family has already found prominence in this story in the role of blame for the disease; nowadays this highlight to the parents is done by participation in the treatments, in the possibilities of aid for the autonomy of the autistic, and as diffusers of information about it. However, there are few scientific productions about the social manifestations of parents with children with autism and their effects. This study aims at the manifestations of activism in the cyberspace of parents with autistic children and their impact on public policies, forms of inclusion (school and social) and therapeutic approaches. The methodological choices were directed to the bibliographical research and to the field research carried out on the internet, from collections in blogs, fanpages and sites created by parents with autistic children, technical means in which there is the possibility of interaction. The Cultural Studies were the major reference of the research, which also dealt with the repercussion of the manifestations of activism in the legal aspects, diagnoses, treatments and in the lives of autistic parents. The data and reflections resulting from the present study had as objective to serve as motivation for struggles and collective participation, seeking a better quality of life for their children, and therefore for themselves, the parents.
